Oggi un amico mi doveva passare un file; il file in questione era molto grande e quindi non avendo a disposizione una linea adsl stabile ha deciso di separare il file in parti.
Io onestamente pensavo che la scelta del software per dividere il file ricadesse su RAR, ma con mia grande sorpresa mi ha passato dei file con un estensione strana, ovvero dei nemeri di 3 cifre sequenziali.
Mi sono ritrovato con sources.zip.001 e così via.. subito san google ha risolto il dilemma di quale programma utilizzare per unire le parti e ho scoperto che oltre a hjsplit un programma con interfaccia grafica, c'è il più veloce e semplice lxsplit da riga di comando.
Ho perso i sources e ho fatto il pacchetto deb per i386 (piattaforma 32bit) anche se credo fuzioni senza problemi anche su 64bit.
Il funzionamento del programma è semplicissimo, se dovete separare il file in più parti dovrete usare:

Nel .deb non c'è l'eseguibile /usr/bin/lxsplit. Il pacchetto si installa senza problemi, ma se sul terminale fai 'lxs' non completa niente. Comunque, dopo aver visto l'help di lxsplit, penso che l'accoppiata split,cat sia preferibile, ad esempio split divide anche l'input ricevuto dallo stdin, cosa che alle volte può essere utile. Inoltre è già disponibile in una installazione normale. Ho fatto anche delle prove e c'è compatibilità: se divido con split e unisco con lxsplit oppure se divido con lxsplit e unisco con cat ottengo in entrambi i casi il file iniziale. Ovviamente mi riferisco alle funzionalità da linea di comando.
