Attraverso jabber sarà possibile collegarsi e parlare con persone che utilizzano altri software di messaggistica istantanea quali AIM, ICQ, MSN Messenger e Yahoo! Messenger, senza dover effettuare le fastidiose registrazioni, questo perchè il client jabber non è multiprotocollo, ma fornisce l'accesso tramite server. Io attualmente consiglio di installare l'ottimo gajim. Questo client ha tutto ciò che serve per utilizzare i servizi jabber al meglio tra cui le stanze (per le multichat) e diverse chicche come le impostazioni di stato(con messaggi personalizzabili)! Insomma un passo verso la libertà del software la si può fare anche con le chat non credete? Provate per credere correte a registrare il vostro account jabber e scaricare da qui il client Gajim!(se avete Ubuntu attivate il componente universe ed installate il pacchetto gajim).
